Noise-Free Environments for a Healthier Life

Project’s objective is to remove the negative effects of noise by reducing its effect, and offering a healthier life for people.

Noise-Free Environments for a Healthier Life

Noise can shortly be defined as disturbing sounds. Noise cause undesirable negative effects on people. Some of these are unefficient working environment, hearing disorder, risking mental health and efficieny decrease in buildings and various industrial systems.

Project’s objective is to remove the negative effects of noise by reducing its effect, and offering a healthier life for people.

By means of the device to be developed as a result of this project, the decrease of the noise level in the intended areas has been aimed. Bounded to this objective, three different prototyps have been developed at the end of the project.

Why Not Passive Noise Control?

In order to prevent noise, it is necessary to decrease also vibrations together with all the other sounds, which are the source of the noise. In order to achieve this, passive noise control is performed in lots of places. Passive noise control is the method of decreasing noise by using insulating materials. However, passive noise control is not effective for high frequency noises.

Why Active Noise Control?

Active noise control used in this project is effective in situations, where passive noise control is not successful. In this method anti-noise is sent to the environment, where low frequency noises are present, in a way that it matches up with low frequecy noises, so that the decreasement of sound and noise can be achieved.
